Believe it or not, netbooks have become one of the many addictive luxuries for some of us and a must-have necessity for others. Netbooks are showing their staying power as these reliable machines have not lost their popularity. Two of which most popular netbooks are the Hercules eCafe  and Eee 1001P. This netbook comparison guide is specifically made for you to easily compare the specifications on both the top-ranked netbooks, to ensure that you end up choosing the right one for you.

Judged only by the name itself, Hercules netbooks might not sound terribly affordable and easy-to-carry.  You might get the image that the Hercules eCafe is a large and heavy netbook, carrying the world on its shoulders. However, you’d be wrong if that’s what you were thinking. This netbook is the complete opposite of its name in terms of its physical features. The netbook is instark contrast to Hercules the warrior because it’s a 10-inch netbook that weighs only about 2.8 pounds. Much of which is the same as the Eee 1001P, which also measures in at a 10-inch size and a 2.8 pound weight.

Both the eCafe netbook and the 1001P Eee PC  come with the Windows 7 Starter operating system that is (according to user reviews) a functional and easy-to-use OS perfect for netbooks. Other than it’s small size and weight, just like the  name Hercules connotes, the Hercules eCafe is a powerful netbook that contains a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N270 Processor that allows high speed word processing and email applications to run. Not much of a surprise, the Eee 1001P developed by ASUS also has a processing power of 1.66GHZ powered by its Intel Atom N450 processor that is slightly higher by 0.06. Memory capacity of the two netbooks are also not much of a problem, since they both have a 1GB Ram capacity that is enough for simple application processing.

The Hercule eCafe compared to the ASUS 1001P has a higher hard drive capacity. Although the 1001P Eee PC has a 160GB hard drive capacity which is undeniably good, the eCafe netbook beats the ASUS by providing a much bigger 250GB hard drive capacity not to mention its additional 50GB online storage. Obviously, if you are an image collector, a video collector or just have fun collecting a bit of everything and storing it on your netbook, then the Hercules eCafe is the right choice for you. Store even more with your additional online storage capacity.

Another edge of the eCafe netbook is its different featured applications  that iare mainly designed for the eCafe netbook alone. It has an  eCAFÉ™ Email Center email management system that intuitively, efficiently, quickly and separately allows users to access their multiple email accounts  to avoid role conflict. Complete with its 3-step mailbox setup process and color assignment per email account which includes colored icons and incoming mail pop-ups that is easy to use and familiarize. This feature cannot be seen in the Eee 1001P, because it was developed  for the eCafe netbook only. Users who have bought and tested the Hercules eCafe say that the netbook has a simple interface that lets you browse for goodies quickly. All of the quick access is  made possible by its stylish and functional shortcuts.

Presented below is a comparison table that aims to help netbook users compare the specifications and functionality of the the Hercules netbook and the Eee 1001P.

The Eee 1001P also has a cutting edge feature that allows it to stand out above the eCafe netbook. And this feature is its ability to reach a maximum of 11 hours of unplugged usage. Compared to the 9 hours offered by the Hercule eCafe, the  ASUS 1001P clearly has the better chance of being bought by potential netbook buyers who want to eliminate or at least to alleviate the plug-and-use problem of netbooks short on battery life.

Not only that, the 1001P eee PC has a brighter non-blurry screen than the eCafe netbook. Eee 1001P features a LED Backlit Display that studies showed to be much brighter than the LCD display provided by the eCafe netbook. But if you are not much into the brightness factor of the netbook screens, you can choose either of the two 10-inch netbooks.

Regarding the keyboard size, the Eee 1001P ranks first place by its 92% full size keyboard which has become a very high rated issue when buying a netbook. Though the Hercules eCafe also has an easy-to-type 88% keyboard  experience which is not bad at all. According to user reviews, both the eCafe netbook and the 1001P Eee PC do have easy-to-use keyboards that provide comfort in typing. Some 1001P Eee PC users claimsthat its keyboard feels spongy when typing, but some of them also report that their typing experience feels like they were just typing on the any other laptop.  This is clearly a difference in personal preference. On the other hand,  Hercules eCafe users state that its keyboard is also not difficult to use, at 88% of full-size.

Both netbooks are WiFi ready, which makes them both functional and top-picked. Choosing the right netbook for you would depend mostly on what you need and not just what looks good. Both the Hercules ecCfe and Eee 1001P are stylish when it comes to physical aspect. The eCafe netbook features a high-gloss unique “in-mold” designed cover with a mirror effect that creates a visual interplay of metallic and non-metallic colors. That way it never looks the same and changes with each moment of use. The Eee 1001P sophisticatedly draws its inspiration from the curvature of an ocean seashell and is encased in a special latticework (checker-patterned) casing.
